Biden to campaign in Michigan, vows to stay in presidential race

President Joe Biden will return to Michigan on Friday, the campaign said in a release Sunday evening, as he attempts to recover from his first 2024 debate against Republican Donald Trump.

The Biden campaign said Democratic nominee Biden would visit Detroit.

It will be Biden’s fourth visit to Michigan this year and comes 116 days before the presidential election on Nov. 5. Four years ago, Biden defeated Trump, who was serving as president at the time, by 154,000 votes, or 3 percentage points. 51%-48%In Michigan.

However, Biden’s campaign has been in turmoil since the June 27 debate, during which he gave a number of muddled and confusing answers, including at one point saying, “We finally defeated Medicare.”

The 81-year-old Biden’s performance prompted some pundits and five Democratic U.S. House members to call on him to step aside and let Democrats choose someone else as their nominee to take on Trump this fall. Biden has rejected their urgings and claims he will win the election.
