Actress Reese Witherspoon says she’s “very excited” about the new Legally Blonde prequel series, which will premiere next year.

Amazon Prime Video confirmed earlier this week that a series titled Elle was in development.

It will follow Witherspoon’s character Elle Woods before the events of Legally Blonde.

Starr will executive produce the show, but it has not yet been announced who will play teenage Elle Woods.

In a video shared on Instagram, Witherspoon was seen getting ready and wearing pink lipstick before an Amazon Prime Video presentation for advertisers promoting the “Top Secret” scented script.

She wrote: “Before she became the most famous Gemini vegan to graduate from Harvard Law, she was just a regular high school girl from the ’90s.

“And you’re all going to know her on Prime Video next year. I’m so excited!”

The original Legally Blonde saw Woods enroll at Harvard Law School in search of a boyfriend who had broken up with her.

While studying there, Woods discovers that there is more to her than looks and that she has the potential to become a highly capable lawyer.

This iconic film, which also starred Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson, became a huge hit when it was released in 2001.

Its success inspired a sequel two years later as well as a stage musical which debuted in 2007.

The new series will be produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine company, which is now a part of Candle Media, and was previously responsible for shows including Daisy Jones and the Six.
