Matthew Perry’s death prompts criminal investigation by LAPD and DEA

The Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration have launched a joint criminal investigation into the death of Friends star Matthew Perry.

As reported hollywood reporterOn October 28, 2023, Perry died from the acute effects of the anesthetic ketamine, which was ruled an accident with no signs of foul play. While there, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy, a method used to help treat depression, anxiety, PTSD. , drug and alcohol problems, chronic pain, and more, his autopsy stated that “he could not have had ketamine in his system at the time of death from that infusion therapy because the half-life of ketamine is three to four hours or is less.”

The LAPD and DEA have now launched a criminal investigation that will look into how Perry came to have such a high amount of ketamine in his system at the time of his death, and how he came to have access to ketamine in general.

Perry spoke openly about his battle with addiction and was passionate about helping others facing similar struggles. His demise shook the entire entertainment industry and was followed by a wave of tributes.

His Friends co-stars, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, all wrote touching tributes. LeBlanc, who played Perry’s best friend Chandler Bing, was the first to speak, saying, “The time we spent together is honestly one of the favorite times of my life”.
