A video of Reverend Eastwood Anaba, founder of Eastwood Anaba Ministries, has surfaced online in which he narrates how President Akufo-Addo facilitated the return of some Ghanaians stranded in Cuba at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

In a video posted on TikTok by GhanaWeb, Reverend Eastwood Anaba narrated how he found out the news while hosting the Shepherds Summit at the National Theatre and sought the President’s help.

Despite people suspecting that it would be difficult to get the attention of the President, Reverend Anaba went to the Jubilee House where he was warmly welcomed and given the opportunity to meet President Akufo-Addo.

“Someone was sick in Cuba and went for treatment and had to come back home. This was just before Covid-19. I was doing the Shepherd Summit at the National Theatre. I got up and said, ‘I must go see President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’.

“People told me, ‘Hey, the president won’t mind you speaking,’ but I went to the Jubilee House. And when I went, they said, ‘Reverend, you’re welcome.’ I said I’m coming to see the big man; they asked me, ‘Do you have an appointment with him?’ I said, ‘No, it’s an emergency.’ They said, ‘Well, we’ll let him know you’re here.’ I sat down for a few minutes. After that, they came and said, ‘He said you can come.’

The Reverend narrated how at their meeting, President Akufo-Addo took note of his concerns and assured him that the matter would be looked into.

True to his word, within a few weeks the men were safely returned to Ghana.

“I told him I have a Ghanaian acquaintance who is in Cuba with others. They are sick. They have to return home. He looked at me, wrote it down and said, ‘Osofo Pnin, it will be done.’ Within a few weeks he was brought back to Ghana from Cuba,” he said.
