During a television debate on the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya claimed that Congress leaders, and especially Rahul Gandhi, were promoting violence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Malviya drew similarities between the language used by Democrats in the US against Donald Trump and the language used by Congress leaders in India against Prime Minister Modi.

He said, “Before the Congress claims that their leaders were murdered, I want to remind them that they were murdered because of the political decisions taken by them.”

“What a disgusting, repulsive and shameful statement by this man. If this self-proclaimed non-organic Prime Minister has any decency he must sack this man immediately,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, who is in charge of communications, wrote on Twitter.

Congress media and publicity cell chief Pawan Khera criticised Amit Malviya and asked Prime Minister Modi if he supports the idea.

“According to this loudmouth BJP leader, Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Ji, Rajiv Ji, Sardar Beant Singh and the entire Congress leadership of Chhattisgarh deserved to be assassinated for the political decisions they took,” Kheda said on X News channel.

He said, “The only political decision these martyrs took was to live and die for India. The BJP’s fools will never be able to understand this sentiment. Do we need more proof of the BJP’s anti-national mindset?”

The BJP on Sunday targeted Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi after the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.

Malviya posted some old comments of Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress leader has used similar rhetoric against Modi, like calling him a “dictator”, as have Trump’s critics like Democrat leader and US President Joe Biden.

Malviya said, “Rahul Gandhi, who has failed for the third time, has encouraged and justified violence against Prime Minister Modi, which has caused him to lose elections multiple times. How can India forget that the Punjab police, which was under the Congress at the time, deliberately compromised the security of the Prime Minister when his convoy was left stranded on a flyover.”

Hitting back at the BJP, Pawan Khera said, “Cheap politics should not be done on the issue of security of leaders. The Congress party lost Mahatmaji to right-wing terrorists. We lost two Prime Ministers to terrorists. We lost our entire Chhattisgarh leadership to left-wing terrorists under the supervision of the BJP government.”
