Tech billionaire Elon Musk criticized Vice President Harris, calling her an “extinctionist” in response to a resurfaced video of the vice president discussing the “climate anxiety” young people feel when thinking about their future.
“Shamla is an extinctionist. The natural extension of her philosophy would be a literal doomsday for all of humanity!” Musk wrote on Saturday On social platform X.
Musk was responding for a video A September 2023 video, shared by former President Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. and Trump’s running mate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), during which Harris argued that the large turnout of young voters in 2020 was in part due to their concerns about climate change.
“Because young people said, ‘We’re not leaving it to other people to figure out how to deal with the climate crisis’ — you know, I’ve heard young leaders talk about this. He asked me about a term he coined called ‘climate anxiety’Harris said at Reading Area Community College as part of her “Fight for Our Freedoms” college tour.
He further added, “The fear of the future and the unknown of whether it is wise for you to even think about having kids, whether it is wise for you to even think about the aspiration of buying a home… because what will this environment be like?”
Sharing a 15-second clip of the comment, Trump Jr. baselessly claimed on Saturday that Harris was “suggesting that young people shouldn’t have kids because of climate change.”
Vance then reposted Trump Jr.’s comments to X, writing, “It’s like these guys don’t want young people to start families or something. Really weird.”
Harris’ comments received initial screening When he made the comment last year, some Republicans and political pundits objected to it, while some Social Media users claimed It was the economy that carried him to the polls.

Since launching her presidential bid a week ago after President Biden withdrew from the race, Harris has faced a slew of attacks from Republicans eager to see Trump back in office.
