Jude Bellingham’s gestures after England goal investigated by UEFA | England

Jude Bellingham is facing a UEFA investigation for an obscene gesture he made after scoring a dramatic equaliser against Slovakia on Sunday, although it is unlikely the England hero will be banned. Bellingham scored a last-minute bicycle kick to force extra time and keep England at Euro 2024 and Harry Kane’s goal put England into the quarter-finals with Switzerland on Saturday.

Bellingham was shown on TV kissing his right hand then gesturing to grab his thigh, although he said it was “an inside joke towards some close friends who were at the game” and was in no way aimed at the Slovakia bench.

He later tweeted the same defence. However, UEFA has asked for more information and will look into it closely. The governing body said: “An ethics and disciplinary inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation into a possible breach of the basic rules of civilised conduct by English Football Association player Jude Bellingham, which allegedly occurred within the scope of this match.”

UEFA also accused the FA of a “lack of order or discipline” by England fans and their “lighting of fireworks”.
