Slash pays tribute to late stepdaughter Lucie-Blue Knight after her death at age 25

Slash is honoring the life of his late stepdaughter.

The 58-year-old legendary guitarist Instagram On Sunday, July 21, he revealed that his stepdaughter, Lucie-Blue Knight, died “peacefully” in Los Angeles on July 19 at the age of 25, calling her “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer and a charming, loving, sweet soul.”

Slash did not provide any specifics about his cause of death. Representatives for the artist had no further comment when contacted by PEOPLE. His Instagram post said his family “asks for privacy at this time and requests that speculation on social media be kept to a minimum as they grieve and come to terms with this devastating loss.”

On 21 July, two days after his death, a pre-recorded post was shared on Knight’s Instagram page, consisting of a selfie and a caption expressing reflections on his relationships with various people in his life.

According to Slash’s Instagram post, Knight, born on December 6, 1998, was “the beloved daughter of Meagan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlett Knight, half-sister of London and Cash Hudson.”

Slash’s birth name is Saul Hudson. The artist first began dating Blue-Knight’s mother, Meagan Hodges, in 1989, but the two then broke up and reunited in 2015, more than two decades later.

Meanwhile, Slash married model-actress Renee Suran, with whom he lived from 1992 to 1997, and then Perla Ferrer in 2001, with whom he shares sons London and Cash. Slash and Ferrer ended their marriage in 2014, and the Guns N’ Roses icon began dating Hodges again the following year.

On the morning of July 21, before revealing the news of his stepdaughter’s death, Slash shared with fans X (formerly Twitter) stated that “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Serpent Tour is having to cancel four performances between July 22 and July 27.”

Slash’s Serpent Tour is currently making stops across the U.S., with the artist telling PEOPLE earlier this month that he’s ” gone full force [his] Effort in every detail [he] “It’s probably possible” has been used to bring this tour to life.

He said at the time, “I’m looking forward to it being a lot of fun. I’m really looking forward to playing live for two hours a day for two months and then jamming with the people we’re going on tour with.”
