‘There’s love between us’: Markwayne Mullin befriends Teamster he threatened to fight in the Senate

Months after Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) threatened to fight Teamsters Union head Sean O’Brien during a Senate hearing in November, the two men have become more than just good friends.

Mullin told CNN on Wednesday that the friendship blossomed after former President Donald Trump called him months ago and asked the two men to “meet.”

The meeting apparently took place at a “small Italian restaurant”, where they became friends over shared interests.

“We have a passion, a love for working together,” Mullin said. “We both grew up on our own, worked hard, and worked blue-collar jobs. And so we really stick together, and he texts me, and I text him right after.”

Mullin said the two men now laugh about the Senate fight and that he found O’Brien’s demand that he “pull his butt up” funny.

“I will say, if I had alcohol in my mouth, I would spit it out,” Mullin said. “But now we have a relationship, we’ve moved past that and sometimes it happens. I always tell people, I don’t take things like that personally. I used to get paid to fight. I don’t anymore; I don’t want to fight for free.”

Mullin said O’Brien was the first to apologize for the feud, “but it happened before my friend was even seated at the table. And I sat down, and told him, Sean, that means a lot to me, and that’s how the conversation started.”

Their friendship grew deeper from there, he said.
