A committee to assess the situation of Amravati

Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati was completely ignored by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the last five years due to his vague three capitals idea.

This time after TDP came to power it was announced that Amaravati would be the capital and efforts began to develop it.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguri Narayan said Amaravati would be constructed within the next two-and-a-half years.

He acknowledged the great sacrifice of the farmers who gave their lands for the construction of the capital city and said that their efforts will not go in vain.

He said farmers donated 34,000 acres of land for the capital in just 58 days.

He said that a committee will be formed to investigate the current situation of Amravati, which will take two to three months to submit its report.

Narayan reminded that during its previous tenure, TDP had spent Rs 9,000 crore on construction of highways in Amaravati.

He said 70-80% of the construction work of residences for IAS officers, MLAs and MPs was completed during the TDP tenure, but it stopped during the YCP rule.

He said that the construction of these buildings will be completed in the next six to eight months. He also said that a perfect plan for the development of Amaravati will be ready in 10 days.
