The 2024 Republican National Convention begins on Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt.
The four-day event begins just days after shots were fired in Trump’s direction at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, killing one rally attendee and wounding two others. The gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, was shot dead by Secret Service agents shortly afterward.
Trump announced his vice presidential running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and Vance, 78, is expected to be officially nominated by the party for president at the convention. He is currently scheduled to address delegates on Thursday evening, the final day of the convention.
