Kate Middleton wrote an emotional letter to the Irish Guards to apologise for being unable to attend a key rehearsal for Trooping the Colour on Saturday morning.
“I wanted to write to you to let you know how proud I am of the whole regiment prior to the Colonel’s Review and Trooping. [Color.] “I commend everyone participating this year, who have been practicing for months and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are impeccable,” Middleton’s letter reads.
Trooping the Colour is an annual ceremonial Horse Guards parade held in London each year in June and celebrates the official birthday of King Charles I.
Middleton is the honorary colonel of the Irish Guards, a position Charles appointed her to last year.
“It is a great honor to be your Colonel, and I am very sorry that I am unable to take the salute at the Colonel’s Review this year,” the letter continued. “Please convey my apologies to the entire regiment, although I hope to be able to represent you all once again soon.”
“Please send my best wishes and best wishes to everyone involved.”
Middleton will be replaced by Lt. Gen. James Bucknall, KCB, CBE, in her usual role of inspecting officer at the traditional Colonels’ Review as she continues her recovery, Kensington Palace A spokesperson told NBC,
It’s unclear whether she will attend Trooping the Colour, but she is reportedly “considering” appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The Princess of Wales has mostly stayed out of the public eye since revealing her cancer diagnosis to the world in March.
And it appears she “can never return to the role people saw her in before,” said a source told Us Weekly,
The Guard reacted to the Princess of Wales’ letter by saying they were deeply saddened.
“We wish Her Majesty well and send her our best wishes,” the guard said. Posted on X.
