Sharmila came, achieved and disappeared

YS Sharmila, the newly appointed president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress wing, has performed very well in the last six months since entering Andhra Pradesh politics. In recent weeks, and especially during the elections, she has been acting as one of the main forces in the political scene of Andhra Pradesh.

Sharmila has been continuously attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy after being appointed AP Congress president in January. She accused Jagan of supporting YS Avinash in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case and made it the focal point of her campaign in Kadapa and the entire Rayalaseema region.

But YSR Congress rejected it as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy himself said that Sharmila should not be taken seriously and she was motivated by personal vendetta.

The final result was so disastrous for the YSR Congress that the party lost 7 out of 10 MLA seats in Kadapa, which has been a stronghold of the YS family for three decades. Not many can argue that Sharmila clearly alienated Kadapa voters from the YCP.

In a span of just 6 months, Sharmila came to Andhra Pradesh, became the Andhra Pradesh Congress President, led the anti-Jagan campaign and achieved the goal of defeating Jagan. As soon as Jagan’s term as CM ended, Sharmila disappeared and is nowhere to be seen now.

AP Congress leaders are waiting for Sharmila’s return to assess AP’s political inclination, but she is away from party activities. Maybe she will return later as per her convenience, but she has surely caused a lot of damage to Jagan.
