Bus: Kingibe cries, I am being sidelined in my constituency

Senator Ireti Kingibe representing the Federal Capital Territory has again alleged that she is being marginalised in a Senate committee on issues concerning her constituency.

Kingibe made this known at the plenary on Tuesday during the consideration of the FCT’s 2024 N98.5 billion supplementary budget.

Kingibe, who is ranked 10th and 11th, said she is the highest elected person in the FCT but she still does not pay attention to issues of the state.

“Mr President, I am the most elected person in the FCT which has over four million people,” Kindibe said.

“I am not usually very interested in issues concerning the FCT, especially budget matters.

“The supplementary budget of the FCT was presented today but I am not even aware of the whole process, I was not invited to any meeting where the budget was discussed.”

However, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio interrupted Kingibe when he urged him to move the motion.

Akpabio told him that the order he gave demanded that he move a motion and table it in the House.

The senators agreed that Kingibe would present the complaint in the form of a motion tomorrow.

President Bola Tinubu last week wrote to the Senate, seeking a supplementary bill of 98.5 billion Nigerian Naira for the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

This 98.5 billion Nigerian Naira is in addition to the 1.2 trillion Nigerian Naira budget passed by the National Assembly in March.
