Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail is finally fixing one of the worst things in MMOs

There’s one big problem that I can’t always get stuck into properly in any MMO. I’m told that I’m the Chosen One, that I’m the only one who can save the world from some imminent doom. It all rests on my shoulders. Well, if that’s the case, why are the 20 other people around me being told the exact same thing by that fake quest-giving NPC? It completely breaks my focus. Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail That fixes the problem.

Final Fantasy 14 has been going strong for nearly 14 years now, and I wonder why it took the developers so long to add the option to hide from other players when near an NPC or Quest Object. On the Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail release date, you’ll find a lot less clutter in the MMO, so you can focus on becoming the Chosen One you’ve always wanted.

The news was revealed during the Final Fantasy 14 Live Letter today, Friday June 14. In the picture below you can see the effect in action. Normally, when you’re near a Quest NPC, everyone else does the same. It makes sense – they’re important people in the game world for most players. But with the filter turned on, you’ll see a lot fewer players when you’re nearby, and even fewer when you’re actually talking to them. Finally, a little peace and silence.

Along with this welcome change, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida told PCGamesN that he wants the game to have “80 to 90% multiplayer content going forward.” This is all part of an effort to make the game less repetitive and encourage players to join parties and organize and understand things more quickly.

Yoshida also told us how he and his team decide which jobs to add to the long-running RPG series. “We consider two main points,” he says. “The first is that it should have different mechanics from the existing jobs so that it has a unique playing experience. And the second is that, as an MMORPG, it has to be fun to play when engaging in multiplayer content.”
